Our story of family and community

We’ve spent most of our lives in Muskoka and we understand what works here. In 20 years of combined landscape experience, we’ve seen a lot. We’ve seen what works, and what doesn’t work. When we put our heart and soul into your project, the results are stunning.

True beginnings

Five Point is a family owned and operated business and our Muskoka roots run deep. Our grandmother was a Cunnington and her grandfather built and operated Port Cunnington Lodge for many years. Our grandfather’s family owned and operated the gas station and rental cottages on Oxtongue Lake (now LOBO’s and Oxtongue Cottages). Our mom owns Lake of Bays Garden Centre (formerly Dwight Garden Centre) where she has served cottagers for two decades.

meet Tom & Emily

founder & CEO

Since early childhood, Tom Keown has been running and operating machines. From skid steers to excavators, Tom has always enjoyed the work they allow him to accomplish.

Tom and Emily’s parents, Linda and Randy, owned and operated a landscaping, construction, and logging business for over 10 years. Those years were formative for Tom. Since then, he has broadened his scope, working as a mechanic, and in a machine shop before returning to landscape construction. For 10 years Tom worked for a successful landscape construction business before deciding to start his own in 2018.

Tom is passionate about his work and takes pride in the attention to detail and excellence of every project.

Landscape coordinator

Emily grew up in the same family business environment and shares Tom’s passion for the landscape industry.

Emily graduated for Georgian College with a Law Clerk diploma but soon returned to her mom’s family owned business, the Dwight Garden Centre. Working with her mom, Emily helped run the garden centre for over 10 years. Along with her enthusiasm for floral design, Emily excels at designing gardens and oversees everything from cutting grass to pumping propane and watering plants.

Emily holds a diploma in floral design and manages all of Fivepoint’s soft-scape projects.
